2007's flops : PS3 and Vista ? (Posted
01/04/07 by MatD)
It was the most awaited gaming console of 2006 with the best technical specs but unfortunately the Wii stole the show. Who cares about the PS3 on Ebay, at Target. How many of us will buy this console here in Europe after having so much more fun with the Wii ?
The late Europe release wouldn't helped because everyone is fascinated by the Wii, not by high end graphic chips or a Blue Ray Disc Drive. Fun is priority ;-) IMO the PS3 will be one of the 2007 commercial flops.
I think the same when the "Waouh Vista" slogan hits my eyes when surfing on IT pages. No other IT-product would be accepted by the customers if it had so many inbuilt problems. You would say : that's a shame, what a bad product.
But it's Microsoft and apparently no one seems to be scared to buy a new laptop that needs 15 min to launch Vista and after that crashes with a blue screen of death. More sadly I think the people are mislead by the medias.
Aero interface in Vista
Marketing and a huge bunch of million dollars blinded all the future Vista customers : it's new, just buy it ! And after that.... throw it. Quality ? an unknown property at Microsoft development departement. Please don't forget these guys took almost 6 years to built "that" and after that when the first problems occured they are claiming that the computer manufacturers hadn't correctly prepared the compatibility of their products towards Vista : *laughs*
For me : Vista and PS3 are the biggest losers of 2007 . Who are/will be the winners ? Apple with the iPhone and Leopard and perhaps again the Wii if a DVD enabled version was launched in late 2007.
Wii Play review (Posted

If you want to play to the Wii with friends you definitely need a second Wiimote. A special Nintendo offer was the package Wii Play + 1 Wiimote. After 1 month of waiting I could get Wiiplay. Here is the full Wii Play review !
Timbaland and Nelly Furtado vs. a C24 Sound ...(posted
03/01/07 by MatD)
This story might be dugg x-times but I thought it was pretty interesting ;-) Do you know Nelly Furtado's hit song 'Do It' and the jazzy-electro sample ?The sample was unfortunately not produced by Timbaland but it seems that he used an old Amiga C64 mod of made by the Finnish demoscener Janne "Tempest/Damage" Suni.

Ever wondered where Cassie found this red MacBook ? Check: www.colorwarepc.com and pay attention to the fact that the white Apple Logo does only appear in the videoclip when the camera is far away from Cassie...
Three discrete logo appearances or just another subliminal ad ? ;-) Click here to watch the clip !

Yes, Santa can be followed with Google
Now it´s time for a little fun with Google Earth. After tracking hurricanes, weather, National Geographic points, the very cool Google software lets you follow the journey of Santa Claus over our Earth during a 12 day long quest.
Each day you´ll get a little question and then you must solve the clue. The "hunt" for Santa works like this : you must find a hidden toy placed somewhere on the (virtual ;-) ) Earth.
It´s easy but also a very funny way to discover new places and to learn our geography !
"Bombs" by Faithless banned from MTV (updated
06/12/06 by MatD)
Faithless with headman Maxi Jazz is well known in the electro scene. For his new album "To all new Arrivals" the topic remained the same : bombs, bad human actions and the will to lead the listener to think about the actual state of our earth and humanity. The new album is really and we can even appreciate one featuring with Dido ( "Last this time") like the smashing hit "One step to far"
MTV decided not to air Faithless new clip.
This clips contains artistic depiction of the bad side of USA and seemed to be to controversial for MTV ! I can remember MTV used to show more activism in the past... Kinda sad

Rudebox meets the Lego Box ! (posted
01/09/06 by MatD) (Update : 2x)
The small animation you have seen on the front page is called "Rudebox meets the Legobox" and I´ve posted it to www.rudebox74.com in order to participate to the Rudebox Competition. I´ve also designed the stickers for the Adidas Sweat shirts worn by the Legos. The background and the street were also designed and printed on paper.
Two little halogen lamps were placed over the scene in order to give an "underground" light condition. In order to have a coherent scenario, I´ve followed Robbie´s original "Rudebox" video. Hope you like my clip ;-)
Update : My clip was accepted and is now available on www.rudebox74.com. So if you like it, please vote ;-) Thanks a lot for your support !
Update 2 : The clip finished on the fourth place among the ten finalist. Again, thanks a lot for your support !
Robbie Williams @ Hockenheim (posted

Robbie is by far the best showman ! I had the chance to go to his concert at the Hockenheimring last sunday. What a show ! For me it was the second Robbie Williams concert. The previous one was in Mannheim but this one impressed me a lot especially because Robbie´s stage was much more higher. Of course the show was great and here are some picsClick here to access the gallery >>>

The new electronic music label " Treeman Records" will officially start this summer and be launched on this website. The name Treeman comes from a wooden creature, that is walking in the green and old forest. If you can find the Treeman he will reveal you some interesting details about his strange culture and of course let you discover some unheard and brand
new tracks, even before the Humans will dance on.
Treeman Records will release podcasts, new re/mixes and more stuff around electronical and pop music. Of course artists who may wish to be part of the label's releases can already contact Treeman Records by clicking on this link.
Le Platt (posted
01/15/06 by MatD) Matthieu DERU
Regional languages are said to become more and more popular. Where I'm living (in France, near the German border), we are speaking a cool language called "Le platt" a patois. In fact this patois comes from the Francique and is a mix between the Francique language and the German one. Unfortunately this patois is going to die, because the new generation doesn't know how to speak this language and sadly doesn't understand what elderly people ( like my grand'ma or the good old man sitting on the bench in our village) say. Fortunately we have workshops to "rescue" this knowledge. One of these persons, called Hélène Nicklaus wrote some short articles in our local newspaper ( Le Républicain-Lorrain).
I decided to collect this articles and to republish them on my website. Have fun !
Happy New Year ! (posted
01/01/06 by MatD) Matthieu DERU
Here's my first post for 2006. As you might have seen it on the frontpage, I have a lot of new projects for 2006. 2005 was a nice year. I saw the birth of several projects in the mobile segment and I'm pretty proud to announce that a new service called "Mobile Music Album" has already been launched through the label "Mots d'Est Production".
As everyone knows mobile devices are going to be found in everyone's pocket and that's why I see the future in the new Pocket Pc generation and in the upcoming Nokia N92 with DVB-T receiver.
As an Apple I also want to mention that the first important "event" to come is the January 10 with the speech of Steve Jobs. Then we'll have to see what the cooperation between Apple and Intel is leading to... perhaps a new PmaC? ;-)
In 2006 I will also launch my "in-car" entertainment system for automative and a "new-old" music label "Treeman Records" so stay "tuned" to mat-d.com !
Paper cars (posted
12/26/05 by MatD)Matthieu DERU
I've found a very interesting new way to build cars! It's very very cheap : paper cars. Here are some of my favourite sites where you can download PDFs to print, to cut and to stick it up with glue: 3DPapers.com.tw or Streetpaper.de
Depending on the difficulty level, you can realize some very beautiful cars. I've decided to build the 360 Modena and the Ferrari F1 2000. By clicking on the pictures you can enlarge. The Modena took me (i'm a beginner, so excuse the imperfections ;-) ) 4 hours and the F1 about 5h30 to build... It's worse to try!
N90 Review (posted

This is one of the most funniest mobile phone I
ever had in my hand. With a right turn you turn
it into a digital camera. The two displays have
own integrated functions. This phone is a 3G phone
and uses Nokia Series 60 Symbian operating system.
Funny stuff is to see that Series 60 older than
the Feature Pack 3 are rescaled to adapt to the
new screen resolution! Read the full review of this mobile phone>>
Confessions on the dance floor (posted
10/17/05 by MatD)
As a Madonna fan ( since the "Frozen" album) I couldn't not post a message concerning Madonna's new single ! Everybody knows it, it's named "Hung up". First time I've listened to this track I was shocked : how can Madonna steal a Abba sample ? To my ears it's like taking a sample from the Beatles and put a poor drum rythm on But after listening the track I think this "Hung Up" can be a hit : it'll touch several generations. The youngest among us perhaps never knew the Abba Story and to be quite honest : we are in a "revival-recooked-cover" music tendance : new hits are made from old ones and that is selling. Best example : Crazy frog, Sugababes, 50 Cent ... I'll better stop here !

I went there with a friend of mine : Manü. The
Conseil General de la Moselle elected several websites
in 7 categories. The first three websites of each
category became a prize. Unfortunately we weren't
selected for the Chill
Party Website , but were invited to the ceremony
